Challenge Coins originated during World War I. Coins were circulated within battalions as symbols of camaraderie and unity. Later the coins were a way of verifying membership in a club, group, or military unit. The coins have also given by several U.S. Presidents as well as at military, DOD, and DOS meetings as a token of appreciation. We offer these in standard antique brass finish or shiny brass (please be specific when ordering). The brass finish coins are traditional and heavyweight and antique brass if the preferred look. This year we are also offering them in a zinc base which is lightweight and less expensive. The exterior look of the coin is the same as the brass, but the difference is in the weight and cost. Velvet gift boxes are available at $2.10 each or plastic protective capsules at $0.35 each. Material: Antique Brass Core Die-Stuck w/ Color Enamel Fill Coin Color: Antique Brass or Shiny.
